INNER CHILD INTEGRATION THERAPY
Do you wonder why certain things bother you as an adult? Why in certain situation, experiences and with certain people you feel angry, helpless, overwhelmed, and unable to respond in the usual calm, composed adult manner. There is drama in your life which keeps re-creating and repeating like a pattern. Something that may have worked successfully in the past is not working any longer and yet you continue to do it as if you no longer have control on it or yourself!
We all have been hurt, rejected, traumatized, bullied, ridiculed, and decimated at some point in our lives which have left us with these feelings and memories. If you imagine yourself born as a whole, these incidents and experiences have left you fragmented. We all have parts of us buried deep within us that we are ashamed of, fearful to show or remain unhealed and wounded. Parts that we are too afraid to explore, confront or understand and are lying embedded and stuck in the deep abyss of our subconscious.
Our history and psyche have been influenced by our environment, events and the significant people around us. Our inner child has stored those memories and their impact upon us. Up to the age of six and in cases up to seven years, our brain functions in the Theta brainwave frequency of 4-7 cycles per second—which is a very ‘receptive’ brainwave state, and what this means is that we would have been profoundly affected by our experiences taking in everything like a sponge without any critical reasoning. We will have made ‘decisions’ at that time at a sub-conscious level of who we are, what should be done or not and what is acceptable or not. The child has now a coping mechanism based on the perception of that incident, person and experience which continue autopilot when triggered and some coping mechanism is operating even without triggers. Subsequent experiences will compound the already formed beliefs and coping mechanisms till we decide to revisit, resolve and restore the healthy part it was before the trauma.
Your inner child is the resounding echo of your younger selves which if heeded to can lead to the healing. Rescuing and re-parenting your Inner Child will allow you to ‘fill in the gaps’ and enable you to live a more positive and rewarding life—with fun, laughter, spontaneity, authenticity, and most importantly, with love. The best gift you can give yourself is to integrate your fragmented parts and become who you truly are inherently capable of and more!
